The Department of Child Support Services must be able to locate the non-custodial parent to obtain a child support order and collect payments. To find the parent, the child support agency uses information from many sources. The custodial parent is a key source of information. Custodial parents are asked to provide information regarding the non-custodial parent such as: the birth date, social security number, employer, address, and driver’s license number. With this information, a wide variety of data bases throughout the United States are used to obtain location and income information.
