Interim Compromise of Arrears Program

Inquire about the availability of documents in alternate formats.

To assist non-custodial parents who are currently excluded from COAP and still wish to make an offer to compromise, there is the Interim Compromise of Arrears Program.

I-COAP will be limited to cases that meet the following criteria:

  • You must owe the government at least $5000 in child support arrears.
  • You must not owe current child support.
  • You must be able to pay off arrears in lump sum payment.
  • You can have more than one case in Sacramento County; total of arrears for all cases must be minimum $5000.
  • You do not have another child support case in another county.
  • You do not have the ability to pay all child support arrears owed within five years.
  • You have not been convicted, nor had a contempt finding for failure to pay child support within the last three years.

Please note: There may be some other criteria which would exclude you from the I-COAP or COAP programs. These are case specific and would be explained to you upon review of your application.
